‘A whole-hearted thank you for being so encouraging and supportive with Juno. It was wonderful to see her thrive and perform so well in the final play – it was divine to see all the kids! I’m in awe of how you approach creative arts in a safe and inclusive environment. Honestly, I wish this was the approach to education in every setting. We’ll be back!’
Juno’s Mum, Laura – Five-Day Play – April, 2024

‘That was the BEST Five-Day Play (our flagship School Holiday Program in Newtown). The big puppet work was great. And Rafael had a great time. See you at the next one!’
Rafael’s Mum, Cheryl – Newtown Public School – April, 2024
‘We’ve done almost 10 years of 5 Day Plays between our 2 kids and they have always had an amazing time. Perfect for building their confidence and creative skills. Always a highlight of the holidays.’
Holiday & Denholm’s Dad, Pip – Newtown Public School – January, 2024
‘Huge thanks for another wonderful term of drama. As soon as it was finished, Huxley whispered in my ear “I want to do drama again next year!!” It’s been wonderful for his confidence. Earlier yesterday, he even played piano in front of the whole school at their talent quest. Incredible, considering where he started: A very self-conscious mouse!’
Huxley’s Mum, Alee – Erskineville Public School – December, 2023
‘Will thoroughly enjoys Drama. It really is the highlight of his week!’
Will’s Mum, Katie – Erskineville Public School – December, 2023

Alice’s Mum Susannah – Alex Park Community School – November, 2023
‘This is the child who will fight tooth and nail against having to write anything at school or for homework. Glad to see he’s been inspired! Thank you!’
Inner West Mum (who asked NOT to be identified so as not to reflect negatively on her son’s academic life! But he TOTALLY, INDEPENDENTLY, PASSIONATELY wrote a script from ideas arising in an in-class brainstorm) – May, 2022
‘Your program and YOU personally have been the main reason our kids are comfortable to speak in large crowds and in general having the confidence they have now.’
Mavis Chan – Evelyn & Elliot’s Mum – Erskineville, February 2022
‘Daniel told me that the students going for nomination for school captain this week all said in their speeches that they got their confidence from the after school drama class. He said that he got lots of confidence from it too, and it all goes back to his first monologue, things began to change for him from that point. (I don’t know if you remember, but this was the monologue that he begged me to get him out of because he was too scared to do it).’
“Thanks to Red Roar I was able to convince Daniel to audition for the school’s Year 6 production which kicks off in Term 4. He now has one of the 8 major speaking roles in the play!”
Jacqui Davidson – Daniel’s Mum – Dulwich Hill Public School, September, 2020
“Violet is really enjoying it! Sometimes it seems like Drama is the only way to get her to school!”
Todd Caporn, Violet’s Dad, Dulwich Hill Public School – September, 2020
“Ada is loving Drama, She told me happily she could “be herself”, which is high praise from a 6.5 year old. It’s not often she finds an activity where her highly active and excitable nature is so accepted. We have a very happy child every week.”
Georgia Marshall, Ada’s Mum, Dulwich Hill Public School – September, 2020
‘My daughter Sasha has been attending Red Roar after school drama classes for about two years now. She loves it. The Red Roar team not only make the classes lots of fun, they also help all kids realise their potential in a very supportive environment. My daughter has grown in confidence and now has the performing bug! Thanks to Gavin and Red Roar drama for their excellent program.’
Annabelle Hayter, Parent, Dulwich Hill Public School – March 2019
‘Both my daughters attend Red Roar’s after-school drama classes at Dulwich Hill Public School, under the expert guidance of company director Gavin Vance. And for both the experience has been amazing. The quality of teaching is first rate, and the girls participate in fun drama exercises and improvisations in a well-structured and nurturing environment. They particularly enjoy the process of creating their own scripts, which has included monologues, scenes and complete plays, to be performed at the end of each term. The girls not only love attending the weekly sessions, but have also gained enormous confidence in performing, and have developed their drama skills and knowledge of theatre making in general. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to their journey into the performing arts.’
Susannah Hardy, mother of Maggie, 11 yrs and Phoebe, 7 yrs – March 2019

‘Thank you too for the wonderful work you and your team do. It was really quite emotional and empowering seeing all the kids perform – facing fears in motion!’
Evie’s Mum, Alicia – June 2017
Bas’s Mum, Kylie Washington – December, 2016
‘William has absolutely loved this year doing drama and I think it has really helped his confidence generally but also in speaking. I see such a difference, even when he visits my work and has to interact with adults he does not know well. He has come a long way. So thanks. I found his ability to bounce back today when he forgot his lines, incredible. Resilience is what every parent wants for their child. It is sometimes hard to get the balance right between wanting them to be sensitive but also able to manage set backs. I saw a glimpse of that today and was very proud.’
William’s Mum, Samantha Gooch – December, 2016
‘ … Thank you to you and Sarah for the guidance and support you gave Marco last term. He initially started the drama program after school to boost his confidence going into the audition process for Newtown Performaing Arts High School. The result was not only that I saw Marco being more self confident in front of an audience (monologue), but more importantly, that he believed he could express himself in his own way. Marco made the shortlist for his drama audition. The final results are yet to be distributed, but no matter what the outcome, the drama program was enriching for Marco.’
Marco’s Mum, Jane Guthrie – August, 2016
‘You and Sarah did a fantastic job of giving Hamish the space to get into his skin, find his comfort zone, and we couldn’t believe his participation by the end! What a thrill for him, and for us too, to see his excitement and pride on the night of the performance … You do amazing work with the kids … And I want you to know how wonderful your work is, and that we’re very grateful to have you as part of our school. You rock!’
Hamish’ Mum, Nonie Wales – May, 2016
‘Cate is going to do your program forever! Drama has been the key factor in her opening up and gaining the confidence she has needed!’
Cate’s Mum, Christina – January 2016
‘Thanks for providing such a stellar program for our kids! Lani truly loves it and looks forward to it every week. I know this because it is one of the few things that I don’t have to remind her to do so she must be pretty motivated! :)’
Lani’s Mum, Laura – December, 2015
‘Thank you so much for giving Max such a wonderful fun experience at Drama camp. He has been doing the NIDA camps and he enjoyed yours a lot more! Please keep us posted on future holiday programs as we will most definitely see you again!’
Max’s Mum, Eliana Isis Dona – April, 2015.
‘We are already looking forward to the next Red Roar Five-Day Play. The kids had such a fantastic time. Thank you again for giving the kids the space to create, play, learn and grow. Red Roar has built Jade’s confidence, reminding her how much she loves to dance (which she hasn’t done since she was three). She is now starting hip-hop lessons. I loved the show, it was great to see all the kids had a special part and were all included. I cannot wait for the next one. I have recommended Red Roar to everyone who asked and will continue to recommend Red Roar.’
Jade & Leon’s Mum, Georgia Bartley (May 2014)
‘The more established providers of Kids Theatre don’t produce programs as fun as these, or performances as good as these! Red Roar is is REAL value for money!’
Maddie’s Mum, Kerrie Cant (February 2014)
- “Red Roar’s Five-Day Play was the best fun Liesl has had in the school holidays in a long time. She thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the build up to the performance on the final day, which the parents enjoyed as much as the kids. It really was wonderful to see them in action.”
Liesl’s Mum, Lynda Jupp (October, 2013)
- “I have invited the Red Roar programs into three different school settings in Sydney over the last fifteen years. The level of engagement they achieve with students from a wide range of different backgrounds and ability levels is outstanding. Whether they’re working as teachers, writers or whole-school event directors, the passion that the Red Roar artists have for what they do, and their attention to detail, make them a fabulous asset to any school.”
- Abbey Proud – Principal, Newtown Public School
- “The creative arts activities were perfectly pitched and presented. There was flexibility in the delivery that allowed for the diversity of the students participating, but above all students were being inspired. Hands were shooting up everywhere to answer questions, to have their say. Even the most reserved and quiet ones were jumping up to have a go. These programs gave them maximum enjoyment, more confidence, and a fuller sense of belonging.”
Anna Carmody – Program Manager, The Song Room
- “Island Night was a fabulous multi-arts event held at Galiwin’ku, Northern Territory in September 2012. Rarely does an event succeed so well in bringing school and community together in celebration. The students owned it. Their parents and families were massively proud. School staff, local artists and students were fully engaged, and that was all down to dynamic teaching, careful planning and facilitation full of heart. ”
Bindi Isis – Manager, Corrugated Iron Youth Arts AIRS Program
